on Matrices and Statistics |
The Fifteenth International Workshop on Matrices and Statistics will be held in Uppsala, from Tuesday, June 13 through Saturday, June 17, 2006. The purpose of the workshop is to stimulate research, in an informal setting, and to foster the interaction of researchers in the interface between matrix theory and statistics. Additional emphasis will be put on related numerical linear algebra issues and numerical solution methods, relevant to problems arising in statistics. The workshop will include both invited and contributed talks.
Here one can download a program, list of participants, instructions to speakers/chairmen and abstracts. If you on arrival get some urgent problems please phone +46 (0)70 3795236.

This session is chaired by Erkki Liski, and the speakers are Tarmo Pukkila, Sergio Koreisha, Erkki Liski, Simo Puntanen, and George P.H. Styan. A Festschrift for Tarmo Pukkila, which is under preparation, will be given to him in this session. Some copies of the Festschrift will be available on 15 June at the special price of 30 euros (in cash). If you wish to guarantee your copy, please send email notification to Pukkila60@uta.fi, no later than Friday, 10 June.
On 15 June, in the evening, we will celebrate Tarmo Pukkila at some restaurang in Uppsala. For participation please inform us via e-mail or at the registration desk not later than 13/6. This event is not covered by the registration fee.
The session is supported by Tampereen Yliopiston Tukisäätiö
Special sessions where only Ph. D. students are going to present talks will be organized.
In addition to plenary talks by invited speakers, the conference will have a number of parallel sessions for contributed presentations. If you wish to present a talk, please submit the title and abstract to the conference secretariat by April 23, 2006. All abstracts should be no more than 300 words summarizing the paper, include the title of the talk, keywords and the names, affiliation, addresses and email addresses of the authors. Electronic submissions in LaTex or plain text format are preferred. All abstracts will be refereed by the Organising Committee. We will try to notify you of the acceptance of your talk within one month of the date we receive your abstract. Statistically oriented papers are encouraged to be submitted to "Acta et Commentationes Universitatis Tartuences de Mathematica". This series is abstracted by Mathematical Reviews and Zentralblatt fur Mathematik. All papers submitted to Acta et Commentationes Universitatis Tartuensis de Mathematica are refereed. Editors will be Tonu Kollo, University of Tartu, and Dietrich von Rosen.
